A focused document scanner that turns camera shots of paper into clean, shareable PDFs in a few taps.

The challenge

People scan receipts, forms and letters in poor light, at an angle, on phones with limited memory. The app had to produce a legible PDF from those conditions without accounts, uploads or a learning curve.

Our approach

We kept the product to one clear flow: capture, adjust, save. CameraX handles capture, and a native C++ image-processing module finds the page edges, corrects perspective and applies contrast filters on the device.

Pages are assembled into a PDF locally and handed to the system share sheet, so a file only goes where the user sends it.

Key features

  • Automatic page edge detection with manual corner adjustment
  • Perspective correction and cropping
  • Colour, greyscale and black-and-white filters
  • Multi-page documents with page reordering
  • PDF export and sharing through the system share sheet
  • Works without an internet connection

Keeping the preview smooth

Camera frames are downscaled for edge detection while the viewfinder is live, and processed at full resolution only when the page is saved. That keeps the preview responsive on phones with little memory.
